Privacy Policy

We collect as little as we can to run a trustworthy community record. We do not show ads, sell data, or share it with advertisers.
Who runs this site
Secrets of Leonida is run by Velyra Digital, which is responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us at contact@velyradigital.com or through the contact form.
What we collect
- Browsing: nothing that identifies you. We count daily visits and discovery views using a salted, rotating hash that cannot be reversed into an IP address; the de-duplication records expire within two days.
- Guest identity: when you first contribute, a random anonymous identifier is created and stored in your browser.
- Account: your email address (for sign-in), and optionally a username, display name, avatar, bio, and interests.
- Contributions: discoveries, evidence, comments, theories, votes, and reports, with timestamps.
- Messages: what you send through the contact or copyright forms, including your name and email address, so we can read and answer it.
- Abuse prevention: a salted hash of your network prefix (never the raw IP address), and an internal trust score used to weight votes and reports. These are visible only to moderators.
- Uploads: images are re-encoded before storage and all embedded metadata, including GPS location, is removed.
How we use it
To display and attribute contributions, run community verification, prevent spam and manipulation, moderate content, answer messages, send notifications you enabled, and keep the service secure.
What is public
Your username, display name, avatar, bio, badges, reputation, and public contributions are visible to everyone. Guest identities have no public profile; their contributions are shown as “Guest Explorer”. Your email address is never shown publicly.
Service providers
The site runs on Google Firebase / Google Cloud (authentication, database, file storage, server functions, App Check with reCAPTCHA Enterprise) and Vercel (web hosting). Messages from the contact and copyright forms may be forwarded to our inbox through an email delivery service. These providers process data on our behalf under their data processing terms. Embedded videos only load from providers such as YouTube or Twitch after you choose to play them.
Donations
Donations are handled entirely by the donation platform you choose, under its own privacy policy. We never see your card or bank details, only what that platform shares with us, such as your name, the amount, and any message you add.
Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser stores your sign-in session, spoiler preference, drafts, and dismissed notices locally. Staff members additionally receive a secure session cookie for the moderation panel.
Retention
Account data is kept while your account exists. Moderation records and audit logs are retained to protect the integrity of the community record. Rate-limit and view de-duplication records expire automatically, and forwarded message emails are removed from our systems after 30 days.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile and notification preferences in Settings.
- Delete your account in Settings. This removes your sign-in identity and personal profile data; shared contributions remain credited to “Former Explorer”.
- Request access, correction, or deletion of personal data, or object to processing, via the contact form (topic: Privacy request) or by email at contact@velyradigital.com. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.
Children
The site is not intended for anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
